Day 17 of 40 Day Shoot For United States of Autism Movie

After less than 3 hours sleep for our crew, we were “on the road again” to our first stop this morning, our friends at the GOOD network, Isis and Liz. Their team has been guiding us after receiving our grant money and been with us every step of the way in putting together such a monumental undertaking. People tend to forget that the entire logistical part of our 40 days across America, with every detail of traveling, location, equipment, scheduling, and a myriad of other challenges, was put together in less than 60 days. The GOOD Network team has been great, and it was awesome to finally met them in person. They really do care about their people and you could feel it while you were there.

Afterwards, we left to see our 10th family on our trip, the Lopez family. It was awesome to meet the creators of EMily’s Lemonade stand in California, Carrie and Luis (mom and dad), Tony (the inspiration), Emily (the entrepreneur), Michael and Caitlin. They had a great interview, where we learned about he unique challenges that a family faces with a higher functioning child on the autism spectrum. It was remarkable, because when we arrived we had no idea that Tony was on the spectrum at all, and that is a huge credit to Carrie and Luis and the hard work they’ve don ein spite of their challenges the last few years.

At the end, we were able to have Emily talk a little bit about the Lemonade stand she put together for her brother. Can’t wait to get out there tomorrow to Beverly Hills and see it for myself. We love you all out there and can’t wait to hear from you soon!
